Baracoa Hospital

 

We made a visit to the Director of Baracoa Hospital to deliver a donation of scrubs collected from medical staff at Flagler Hospital and from nurses in Jacksonville, which the Director referred to as "pijamas"!

These two women are part of the mosquito control brigade.  They check homes in neighborhoods for places with stagnant water where mosquitoes might breed.

A steep climb brought us to the Archeological Museum, one of the Friendship Association's first projects in Baracoa.

 

In the cave is a representation of the great Taino chief Guamá

 

According to the label, this is one of the best replicas of the tobacco idol from the Taino culture found in a Baracoan cave in the last century.
