We left early on day 3 for a wonderfully scenic ride on the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward.

Arrival in Seward, a very picturesque town on the water

Visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center--one of the positive results of oil money!

Tufted Puffin and Sea Anemone of sorts

A highlight of the Sea Life visit was "The Octopus Experience", where we met "Thing", a

60 lb octopus and had the privilege of feeling the strength of his suckers...

There is currently experimentation underway to prolong as long as possible the offspring of the female octopus "Aurora".  The octopus gives birth to 20,000 to 100,000 eggs.  Aurora is on the lower end of the spread.  Surprisingly, Aurora is still living.
